raised as a well-mannered, musically-inclined boy, joey's life took a turn at fourteen when he began hearing the voices of the dead. assumed to be schizophrenic and subsequently medicated, joey himself couldn't grasp the truth until his mother's sudden passing years later.

texan-born but living alone in lafayette, louisiana. he keeps in touch with his father and his older sister lena.

tormented by the dead and his own grief, he became preoccupied by the inevitability of death. why plan for the future when it could be taken from you in a blink? in his desperation, hard drugs became the only reliable way to chase the ghosts away.

in the throes of heroin use when a voice calls out to him, a summon projected by something that isn't a ghost. staggering into the graveyard at the foot of st. john's cathedral, he finds the source of the voice: a vampire named eden.

surprised that a mortal could hear his call, much less choose to heed it, eden finds himself protective of the lost soul. joey sees eden as a savior, some sort of gothic angel, and it's eden's intervention that steers him from the needle.

plays guitar. his voice is a languid texan drawl, well-suited to the moody alternative rock he prefers.
